Bills' Bay Day Gives Patriots Route to AFC East Lead - Highlights of NFL Week 10

The tenth week again delivered, with a huge upset for the Buffalo Bills proving the 'any given Sunday' mantra that draws so many people into the NFL
That result may have opened opportunities for the Patriots to move back into a leading position they used to occupy, with a schedule that gives them an edge over their 8-2 competitors
Over in the NFC the Seattle Seahawks and Rams had perfect results to arrange a major confrontation in week 11, while our player of the week is chasing records as well as the Most Valuable Player award
Analysis - Just a Bad Day for the Bills?
Was it just an emotional letdown from beating the Chiefs the previous week or a deeper issue? That's the question for the Bills to address
The Bills had secured seven victories in a row against the Dolphins but were outperformed from the beginning as the Dolphins ran out 30-13 winners in an surprising outcome - and performance
MVP quarterback Josh Allen only achieved the squad's opening first down in the third quarter and first points in the final quarter - yes Miami had 10 days to prepare but it was nonetheless a massive egg produced by one of the NFL's top offences
Dolphins quarterback Tua passed for two scores but running back Achane was the game-changing factor, with 225 combined yards and two touchdowns
Containing the league's best running game was crucial too, with Cook and company registering just 86 yards, their lowest of the year and just over half their 161.5 yard season average
Then there were the three critical ball losses, and the two from Josh Allen in particular. An pass caught by defense in the end zone meaning a nine-minute possession yielded no points, and his final quarter fumble that Miami turned into seven points just later
It was classic 'previous Bills teams' as they shot themselves in the foot, getting into a hole on defensive side and Allen attempting to overcompensate to dig his team out of it - not the composed, controlled, well-balanced Bills we've witnessed this season
Miami have served up a varied performances this season so the jury's out on if this is the start of something, but for the Bills they'll require an immediate bounce-back in a tough game against Tampa Bay next week as the New England are quietly moving into a nice lead at the summit of the American Football Conference East
Spotlight - Patriots See Path to Surprise Top Seed
Speaking of the New England, they're one of three different eight and two squads in the league, all AFC teams, but could they be the top team?
You can find flaws in the Patriots, the Broncos and Indianapolis really for dominating the lesser sides, with only five of their total twenty-four wins achieved against opponents with a positive record - and one example was the Indianapolis defeating the Broncos
Denver defeated the champion Eagles in Philly and are kings of the final quarter while Indianapolis can ride Jonathan Taylor, but the Patriots adding Sunday's victory in Tampa Bay to their primtime success in Buffalo appears to be a declaration
Their two defeats occurred in recently appointed coach Vrabel's first three contests, with seven consecutive victories, similar to Denver, since then - but defeating Baker Mayfield after the Bucs had a week off to prepare was significant
Maye's MVP claims continue to be discussed, and he definitely deserves point for courage after absorbing some savage hits in Tampa Bay but persevering to steer his side to success
The defense is solid and first-year rusher TreVeyon Henderson exploded on Sunday with 147 rushing yards and two exciting touchdowns of 55 and 69 yards - becoming just the fifth different ball carrier to break 22mph this season on his initial touchdown
Although you can argue who 'the top team' is technically, the Pats should be favourites to end with the best record thanks to their remaining opponents - which features just a single matchup against a successful opponent, albeit a significant contest against the Bills
Traveling to the Ravens is challenging too, but the Broncos have it more difficult in the AFC West with the Chiefs to play twice, the Chargers (who could also challenge for first place but encounter the same problem) and also the Green Bay on the schedule
The Colts also face the Kansas City, and have the Seahawks, San Francisco and two matchups with the five and four Jacksonville to contend with. There's a long way to go but the door is available for a surprise top seed in the American Football Conference
Coming Up - Rams & Seahawks Prepare for Next Week Showdown
Both squads with solid claims to be superior to all of the three 8-2 teams are National Football Conference West opponents the Seattle and Rams, who each scored 40 burgers to reach seven and two before the upcoming major game between the pair in Los Angeles
Both have won four in a row, have quarterbacks in Stafford and Sam Darnold playing at an elite level (although Sam Darnold had ball security problems on Sunday) with excellent pass catchers, and defensive units giving up fewer than twenty points a game
Both could easily be undefeated as too - particularly the Rams as their pair of losses occurred in extra time against the 49ers and then that painful defeat in Philly when they had a potentially winning field goal with the last kick deflected and run back by the Philadelphia for a touchdown
Seattle were also defeated to San Francisco, with a last-minute score in week one, before falling to the last kick of the contest against the Tampa Bay - so they're genuinely among the best sides in the league
The upcoming game on Sunday could be the most exciting of the year so far
Player of the Week - Taylor
Taylor could be on for a historic year after his remarkable performance in Germany - running for 244 rushing yards, scoring three touchdowns and contributing an additional 42 {receiving yards
