National Guard Activated Before Nationwide No Kings Rallies
GOP executives in several US regions have placed National Guard troops on readiness ahead of large-scale gatherings opposing Donald Trump and his policies.
Protest Scope and Coordination
Organizers of the "Anti-Monarchy" movement declared that assemblies are arranged at over 2,500 venues around the nation.
According to demonstration leaders, the prior Anti-Monarchy gathering in June drew over five million demonstrators opposing Trump's governmental approach.
Regional Measures
State leaders in Texas and the Old Dominion have officially activated their regional National Guard forces, though the degree of defense presence remains unclear.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott referenced the "organized far-left associated protest" as reasoning for mobilizing local troops.
Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin similarly ordered activation of the commonwealth's National Guard contingent.
Political Reactions
Rally coordinators portrayed the assemblies as challenge to Trump's "authoritarianism."
"The president considers his authority is total," participants argue on their website.
"But in this country, we don't have monarchs and we refuse to yield against turmoil, graft, and cruelty."
Various conservatives have termed the rallies as "Anti-American" gatherings.
Kansas Senator Roger Marshall allegedly stated prior to the rallies: "We must call out the National Guard."
"With luck it'll be non-violent. I doubt it," he added.
Opposition Response
Liberal officials condemned the deployment of state personnel.
Texas Democrat Gene Wu contended: "Sending equipped troops to quell peaceful demonstrations is what kings and autocrats do — and Greg Abbott just proved he's like them."
