Adam Wharton His first start for his country. Somewhat careless when playing out but his whipped set-pieces were a threat. A handy pace-controller for the boss to call upon against defensive opponents. Booked after a reckless tackle. 6/10

The midfielder Deliveries from corners and free-kicks caused problems. Enjoyed license to drift down the left flank yet found himself offside when the ball arrived in front of goal. Awarded a well-earned break on the hour mark. Six

The star midfielder Operated in a high position on the right and contributed with defensive duties. Displayed flashes of quality and scuffed an effort wide. Withdrawn late on for Rogers, his competition, after being booked. Seven

The winger Was presented with England’s top opening in the opening period, his effort smartly stopped by Thomas Strakosha. As a teammate hanging back, he had to provide width on the right although his balls from the touchline were hit and miss. Taken off with 15 to go. 6/10

The captain The match-winner netting 77th and 78th finishes for his country. His first a trademark opportunist's goal and the second a superb headed goal following a clever run from his marker. Now 32, he continues to improve and England are strong contenders next summer with him leading the line. 8

Eberechi Eze Struggled to make an impact out wide. Was presented with a presentable chance after being played in from a teammate but the keeper made the save. Rashford produced a bigger an impact after coming on. Five
